There are several different types of abortion. If you are considering abortion, it’s important to know how far along you are in your pregnancy. The type of abortion you may be looking at can change depending on your baby’s gestational age.

Before you decide

Before you decide about abortion, it’s important to empower yourself with knowledge. Make your appointment with Options Care Center to determine how far along you are and get information about the different abortion procedures. The types of abortion available depend on factors such as how far along a woman is in her pregnancy and what kinds of procedures an abortion provider offers.

Surgical Abortion

There are several types of surgical abortions.

Suction Aspiration, also called Suction Curettage or Vacuum Aspiration is performed usually within the first trimester. Dilation and Curettage (D&C) abortion and Dilation and evacuation (D&E) abortion are typically done in later weeks of pregnancy. D&E abortions take place over several days due to the procedure they use to dilate the cervix. All of these have risks and side effects that vary depending on your gestation and health.
